Hundreds of thousands of Australians fought and died under that flag to repel invasion...50,000 immigrants were employed in Australia last year while 35,000 Australians made friends with Centerlink...God Bless our fallen for their ultimate sacrifice...any Australian will welcome anyone in need anytime. Play by our culture and rules and sleep easy under our flag...thanks from an Aussie veteran...

@freedomandpeacesos If you hate colonialism so much then why don't you return to your ancestors country of origin? Colonialism has nothing to do with racism. If it wasn't for British colonialism the great nations of Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada etc wouldn't even exist.

@freedomandpeacesos - HEAR, HEAR...Simple..stick the indigenous flag in place of the archaic 'Union Jack'...it's time Australia grows up..but psychologically the country is smack bang in the middle of the 1950's right now...a lot of work to be done to get white British Australia converted to a progressive united Australia.

I'm not from Australia, so I have no say in what happens with the Australian flag. But I believe that the flag should remain as it is. It's been part of Australia for the past 100 yrs. It's just as important to Australia as Old Glory (Stars and stripes) is to the United States.

You do realise it is the people who are currently inhabiting Australia that are responsible for the racism and colonialism. The people living in England are the ones that didn't colonise.
This Flag Represents years of Racism.. & English Anglo Saxonism. The Flag will Eventually Change as Everything Evolves in Time.

@DJCORNBEEFKING Thanks for commenting, appreciated.
Yes the flag certainly does represent racism and the evilness of European colonial idioligies. And those old racist idioligies are still entrenced to this day.

@freedomandpeacesos with all due respect, I do agree that it represents an age of colonialism. Australia has come of age and now it is time for it to have its own flag, same with New Zealand.
However that is no excuse to start sinking down to the level where you are anti Anglo-Saxonist. You accuse them of being racist by insulting their race?!?

@ccheng21 The flag should be the Aboriginal flag or at least have it within the new flag, as it is their land afterall.
Who else is into colonialism? And if "colonialism" is not "racist" or "evil" then do you think it was a Sunday picnic for the Indigenous people?
