Paul's thirteenth "solo" album release, and almost two years after "McCartney II".
With "Ebony and Ivory" doing so well in the singles chart, the timely release meant that the album entered the L.P. chart straight into the highest position. After two weeks it had sold 20,000 copies in the U.K. and had passed the 100,000 sales mark before August. It remained in the chart for over 6 months.
The production of "Tug Of War" spanned a year and a half, starting in October 1980, and not being completed until March 1982. During this period, on 27th April 1981, it was officially announced that Denny had left the group, and that Wings had disbanded. "Tug Of War" had an initial official release date of 15th February 1982, then 12th March, but did not appear in the shops until the end of April

Credits for this song:

  • Paul was with wings,so how do you call All his music solo albums?

if every "wings album" had his name (and only his name) on the album cover,i would agree.back to the egg, speed of sound and london town... 100% wings album.paul doesn't sing and write every song on these three.odd you would say that tug of war is paul's 13th solo album when he was contracted with another band other than the beatles.by fact and law,you are wrong.

  • @hereinthebronx Wings? Apart from Denny Laine and Linda, give me one name of any "wings" band member that had stayed with Paul McCartney for more than 3 years. Please be aware that the only album that has been released as "Wings" is Wild Life. Then at Red Rose Speedway McCartney renamed the band as "Paul McCartney and Wings" since not many people noticed that Paul McCartney had played in Wings... Im not wrong: Paul McCartney is Wings though i will not forget Laine's colaboration ...

  • @piggies1 I don't think it matters how long a wings member was with paul, but here are all albums under the title "wings" WINGS WILD LIFE.WINGS VENUS AND MARS.WINGS AT THE SPEED OF SOUND.WINGS OVER AMERICA.WINGS LONDON TOWN.WINGS BACK TO THE EGG.

  • @hereinthebronx We clearly disagree. I will not try to convince you, i'll listen to Tug Of War instead. Peace!

  • paul sings bout the death of john with respect and insight great song

great lp and the end of tug of war is so sad but so well done thank sir paul

love and peace my freind leo

  • @piggies1 Jimmy McCullogh was in for just over 3 years (early 1974-mid 1977)

  • Tug of war is my favorite Paul McCartney album. It`s even better than "Ram" and "Band on the run" It`s well produced, the songs are great, and Pauls singing is beautiful. He made an effort on this one. The title track is awesome. I love it.

  • @alexheadley100 i think "Medicine jar" is a highlight on "Venus and Mars" And "Mull of kintyre" was co-written with Denny Laine. But you`re right. Paul was Wings. He didn`t need the others at all. They are all considered to be solo albums.

  • @alexheadley100 I do write, but i havn't posted anything here on you tube.maybe if i get a good video camera i will.i have always enjoyed listening to anything from 1950's,60's,70's music...i got too picky in the last 30 years.lol.

Always loved the, moody blues, the who.and, yes,THE BEATLES (and beatles solo)

you're a good song writer, been checking out ur vids.i found a song, a funny happy birthday song...it sounds just like you,but it wasn't on your channel....sounds just like you.

  • @hereinthebronx

what about you? do you write? play music? enjoy music? all of the above?

  • @hereinthebronx

Thanks for the compliment. Yeah, I do write my own stuff. No-one's ever told me I sound like Steven Page, but he's definitely an influence in terms of comedic writing style. I think Steven Page is great. Not really sure how I come up with my ideas. Generally, I just sit down at the piano, play chords and come up with a melody. I start singing and then try to figure out what I'm singing about. If I like the idea, I try to fine tune it and really work at the lyrics.

  • @GeorgeTel100 and "time to hide"

keep up the good work with your singing
