This is a short, unedited clip of video shot by Brian DeSousa of CyclistView.com on University Blvd in Orlando, FL. The video demonstrates effective lane position on a high-speed 6 lane road. Bicycle speed is 15mph, speed limit 45mph, effective traffic speed +55mph. We're getting ~6ft of passing clearance... and I would not want less than that!

  • Was this filmed from another bike, or a car? If filmed from a car, I wonder if that had any impact on the vehicle's behavior.

  • @TheStarttman Of course it was filmed from a bike. Filming from a car would be pointless as it would not show how motorists are influenced by bicyclists' lane position.

  • @CycleMan2200 It looked to me like they were passing in plenty of time. And even if they can't, there's time to slow down.

  • I would rather be on the sidewalk on that road. Too many people changing lanes at the last momment, and the Red car was going too fast for comfort. Ride safe.
