Widescreen 16/9 and Stereo - test 3, 1280x720 YouTube generated video with Stereo - HD 720p, 2.636 KB.
I continue with the same file as in Test 02, but now at 1280x720 to produce an even better quality for the video image, the sound would be encoded the same way at 96Kbps and I hope to produce a smaller file than with 117~134 Kbps generated by YouTube (812KB) on Test 02 with my upload video at 640x368 (2.159KB, so I wasted resources on the video [but not on the audio], disk space and upload time).
Ok, what YouTube is telling me is that if I need an even better sound than 96Kbps (for a music video, maybe?), I could use SUPER (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html ) options of 112 or 128Kbps in mp4.

2008-12-03 - Conclusions:
1-Was almost immediately available for reproduction, maybe YouTube converts faster files uploaded in mp4 format.
2-YouTube produced 3 different videos:
A - NQ - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUK91sDULm4
B - HQ - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUK91sDULm4&fmt=18
C - HD 720p - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUK91sDULm4&fmt=22
Checking (1) their characteristics . . . See below.
3-YouTube only produces HD 720p and/or HQ (480x270) videos if the upload source has enough resolution and bit rate (see Test 02). Stereo is supported for files at least 480x270 and 44.1KHz/92Kbps.
4-Cheking (2) the download files . . . See below.
Normal Quality (NQ)
. Resolution 320x180 (~340Kbps)
. Sound Mono (22.05KHz/64Kbps)
High Quality (HQ)
. Resolution 480x270 (~380Kbps)
. Sound Stereo (44.1KHz/~120Kbps)
High Definition (HD 720p)
. Resolution 1280x720 (~2015Kbps)
. Sound Stereo 44.1KHz/167Kbps)
How to download the different files from YouTube:
0-use the "normal quality" YouTube link (ex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUK91sDULm4 ) and put that in http://keepvid.com .
1-copy the "Low Quality" link generated by Keepvid (ex: http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=HUK91sDULm4&t=OEgsToPDskJZM-gwA... ).
2-add "&fmt=18", 22 or whatever you want (a valid one) at the end of the URL (ex: http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=HUK91sDULm4&t=OEgsToPDskJZM-gwA... ).
3-put the modified link in your browser or download manager (to download the file).
4-give an appropriate name to the download file.
5-check the codecs with SUPER (optional).
6-discover new format values (interesting, please post a comment if you find another one).

2008-12-04 Conclusions and new findings:
1-Besides the normal, 18 and 22 format, YouTube generates more 4 files, 7 in total (for 1280x720 upload videos)! For verification, in the download procedure in step 2 (above) replace the fmt value by 5, 6, 13, 17, 18, 22 and 34 (I tested all values from 0 to 60).
Valid "&fmt=" values and results for Test 03:
. fmt=5, NQ - Normal Quality, size=540K, FLV, 16/9, H263, 331Kbps, 320x180, 25fps, MPEG-2, mono, 64Kbps/22.05KHz
. 6, HQM - High Quality Mono, 1003K, FLV, 16/9, H263, 510Kbps, 480x270, 25fps, MPEG-1, mono, 96Kbps/44.1KHz
. 13, MS - Mobile Stereo, 126K, 3GPP, 1.222~4/3, H263 3GPP, 60.8Kbps, 176x144, 15fps, AMR-NB, stereo, 12.8Kbps/8KHz
. 17, MMLB - Mobile Mono Letterbox, 129K, MP4, 1.222~4/3LB, MPEG-4V, 49.3Kbps, 176x144, 12fps, AAC LC,mono, 26.3Kbps/22.05KHz
. 18, HQ - High Quality, 823K, MP4, 16/9, AVC, 379Kbps, 480x270, 25fps, AAC LC, stereo, 117Kbps/44.1KHz
. 22, HD - High Definition 720p, 3549K, MP4, 16/9, AVC, 2015Kbps, 1280x720, 25fps, AAC LC, stereo, 167Kbps/44.1KHz
. 34, NQS - Normal Quality Stereo, 455K, FLV, 16/9, AVC, 2183Kbps, 320x180, 25.006fps, AAC, stereo, 62.3Kbps/44.1KHz
2-This is a very well balanced offer from YouTube! Just lacking the functionality in the site to switch between the different formats and a download button (at the moment the video is not streaming but download to the PC and played moments after the download start).
If you have something to add just post a comment and you are welcome.

Continues in Test 01...
Sorry I dont understand that annotion at the bottom right!
Papierflieger 2 years ago
You are right, that was for the previous link link (button) YouTube used to switch quality.
qatestdev 2 years ago
you don't need to add &fmt=22 now, 'watch in hd' bottom right does it now!
AugZF 3 years ago
Thanks for the information, but yesterday night the button was "watch in high quality" that got access only to &fmt=18.
qatestdev 3 years ago
thanks, I dont know if HQ is fmt=35 or fmt=18
Papierflieger 2 years ago
Table on the right bellow (more info), HQ is 18 (18, HQ - High Quality, 823K, MP4, 16/9, AVC, 379Kbps, 480x270, 25fps, AAC LC, stereo, 117Kbps/44.1KHz) and 35 should be near fmt=22. More on 35 at YouTube Playlist EFD43BA14D7B1958 [full link in (more info) (quest for fmt 35)].
