End result is to use 1 radio instead of 2 and to use your computer keyboard to key your radio and use your computer mic to transmit on local simplex or to a local repeater and also work with echolink sw individually or simultaniously.
Fast Trac to "Echo Link" setup with a "Rigblaster no mic"
Items needed to make this work, USB sound card with a
Line in, Mic in and Audio out ports, 1 standard computer mic. and a radio if you want to transmit locally. Now if your notebook or your desktop already has 3 ports available and individual software controls for the inputs, then you will not need a usb sound adaptor, just computer mic. I used a "GWC USB 5.1 Channel Audo Adapter AA1500 5.1 Channels USB Interface Sound Card " and a "Cyber Acoustics ACM-1B 3.5mm Connector Monitor/Lapel Microphone" from Newegg and a Yaesu FT-7900 hooked up according to the riglaster instructions.
Benefits of this setup are you can use your HT to monitor and talk back your link and if you have someone local who wishes to join the conversation but they cannot hear you because you are on a hand held then simply move to your base setup and tranmit out that and trough EchoLink too!
Note1:If you want to use your base to xmt locally and you are not linked to a node then just connect through you own node and you can xmit locally and be available to echolink connections as well.
Great suff!
Note2: I have some screen shots available on request and zipped to a small 355kb file. just drop an email to me at
kf5irg@hotmail.com and I will send them to you.
