  • Am I right, it features contra-rotating propellers?

  • Nope..., no counter-rotating propellers on the Avanti. The propellers do spin in opposite directions to reduce torque but not on the same drive shaft.

I recently got some video of a P-51 with a Rolls-Royce Griffon engine and a pair of polished aluminum counter-rotating propellers which is pretty sexy. I'll have it up on YouTube later.

  • It sure loves the runway...

  • Bloody hell, that thing accelerates like a Nissan GT-R. Impressive.

  • @lst1195 I guess pyad-cho would get you reasonably clear to the Italian pronunciation. ;)

  • LOOKS LIKE A BIG CATFISH WITH PROPELLERS. LOL

  • I think that's my dad flying there he used to work for avant air about 5 years ago

  • Sorry in advance for the stupid question but how is the name pronounced? I see these all the time flying out of Clearwater International.

  • whats the purpose of those wings in the front? I just dont get this design!

  • @CounterCultureLives It has pushers (more efficient) all lifting wings (more efficient) and a LIFTING FUSELAGE. Imagine the speed and range! Well done Piaggio! I made a balsa canard glider 7" wingspan and nearly 2" round section (lifting) fuselage. See on u tube how far it went. It's called "WHIRLWING VTOL PAV (GLIDE TEST)".

  • @Justwantahover That climb-out is incredible. This plane ascends like a spider climbing up a tile wall!!
