Exactly. And Sony's not going to bank tens to hundreds of millions on a strategy that has a high probability of failure. If they could've gotten away with charging substantially more for the ps3 to turn a profit, they would've. But they couldn't so they sold it at a loss.

1. Sony is a corporation. Of course they operate on greed, or at least mostly on greed, just like every other corporation out there.
2. The main reason Sony sold the ps3 at a loss was because they couldn't afford to sell it at a profit because their system probably would've completely tanked. It wasn't to do gamers a favor. If they could've afforded to charge gamers more, they would've. That's just how the business works.
