IFPC Spokesman offends elderly, infertile, and childless couples

At a September 16 debate on the merits of marriage equality in Iowa, Iowa Family Policy Center spokesman questions why elderly, infertile, or childless couples want to marry.

"One might ask, why are you getting a marriage license anyway?"

The Iowa Family Policy Center is the leading Iowa group backing anti-gay efforts in the state. They seek to deny the freedom to marry for gay and lesbian couples in Iowa. Do we want them making our laws?

Mr. Stewart is an idiot if he thinks the ONLY reason that people marry is to have children. Is he actually stupid enough to think that unmarried couples can't get pregnant? anybody beside me wonder why we need a piece of paper to tell us that we have committed the rest of our lives together? isn't it sad how it does not guarantee anything? thus shouldn't marriage be the agreement of two adults who choose to be there for eachother no matter what. it's silly how much people value a piece of paper and a ring. should've put a ring on it? really? My grandfather married his second wife at the age of 87, she was the same age! No children there! But they love each other and kept each other company!

OH PLEASE, nobody's forcing gays to deny their attractions or raiding gay marriages in churches. gays can freely express their feelings of love in a church and get all the benefits that come with marriage through civil unions down the future. however, as soon as you step outside the private realm of RELIGIOUS marriage and enter into the public sphere of CIVIL marriage, you are subject to the law and public opinion or vote because civil marriage is about public policy

gays and lesbians have always been allowed to marry someone of the opposite-sex for the purpose of procreation and rearing of children according to over a centuries worth of federal constitutional law. what your proposing we do is create extra special rights that exist outside the constitution and common sense

Another question to ask, "What is the church doing that contributes to gay people marrying straight people?"

Church, childbearing, and traditional marriage are the 3 top hiding places for oppressed and suppressed homosexuals forced into hiding.

There's a federal law called ERISA that protects national insurance companies like Oxford from giving equal ights to those in civil unions. Such insurance companies state that they offer benefits only to those in marriages. State law cannot take precedent over Federal Law..
