Coalbed methane is over 9% of the natural gas produced in the U.S. CBM production requires the discharge of over 650 million barrels of water annually. Water disposal is having negative effect on land use & surface waters. The disposal of produced water is a critical issue. Water rights differ by location and regulations must change to support the retention of usable CBM produced water. Operators are primarily focused on disposal of good water. Help stop the disposal of good usable water.
This is becoming a "Best Practice" for Coal Bed Methan / Coal Seam Gas producers in the Powder River Basin. It is great to see CBM Operators starting to save millions of gallons of water using aquifer recharge injection that was once diposed of. Now the water NEVER comes to the surface and is saved for future use.
