Punk is anti-establishment, giving a big ol' "fuck you" to the man, you know? So yeah, punk fashion is cheap because it's essentially anti-fashion. Safety pins were used to hold clothes together, it was functional and it was easy. It wasn't a statement so much.

How to dress punk for cheap? um... when is dressing punk not cheap? Dressing punk is just dressing however you want, wearing whatever clothes you have. Safety pins, razor blades? LOL I never think of that stuff when I hear the term "punk"!!! WHY would you purposely rip up your clothes? I hate it when my clothes get ripped (which is surprisingly often lol), but that usually doesn't stop me from wearing them. I'm too poor to just buy more lol.
