In the past two months my Kenmore top loader has overflowed twice. Turning the timer switch to another cycle does not stop the flow of water. Could a bad pressure switch/hose cause (intermittent) overflowing?

Sorry for the slow response! If the water continues to flow even after you have turned the timer drain/spin or to cycle off then it is likely the water valve that is sticking open and needs to be replaced. The pressure switch or a pinched / punctured pressure sensing hose could also cause overflowing but the water would stop when you advance the timer to spin or turn the washer off...
