Walkway Over the Hudson Surveying

Surveying with GPS on the mid Hudson rail road bridge as part of the Walkway Over the Hudson project. Once complete it will be the longest pedestrian bridge in the world. Located in the Hudson Valley of New York, it connects Highland and Poughkeepsie. Surveying was done by Jacob Fiske and Adolf Jonietz.

Amazingly good condition for such an old bridge.

Overall, yes. There were spots where the bridge was warped and twisted from the fire of 1974.

@jfiske1 Did those sections require remediation before the new decking was installed?

@MrSloika Yes. There was a crew that was working ahead to repair the iron and steel. For the most part the bridge was in great shape. It was breathtaking working up there. It's a project that I'll never forget.

This is the Poughkeepsie Railroad bridge. The walkway is opening as a pedestrian walkway on Oct 3. (Supposedly the longest elevated walkway in the world from what I hear)
