Sugamo, or as it is otherwise known "Old Ladies Harajuku," is one of my favorite spots in Tokyo. Especially on the 4th, 14th and 24th of each month when a special festival is held. The main street, Jizo-dori fills with street vendors, mainly catering to the elderly population. But due to the nostalgic tastes of the elderly who gather there alot of the stuff to be found is unique compared to other areas of Tokyo.

I sampled one of the "unique" foods of yesteryear. My God... why!?!? But, on the whole a good time was had. By all I suppose except the guy being put in the ambulance at the end.

Music:
Al Green - "Old Time Lovin"

  • Pause at 2:57 to see Mr. Miyagi in a white hat on the right. lol

  • The crunch....*crying...whimpering*....Oh the humanity.......someone get me a dick to wash this outa of my mouth......I've just sunk so low eating this shit XD

  • OMG!Sugamo is my hometown ! I used to hang out there LMAO I miss that town !

    lots of great food too.

  • @GaijinAbroad Yeah I noticed that too. 4th. 14th. 24th Wouldn't that be rude if we were like "Hey old people, come on down on death day, we have a deal for you!"

  • @umumum1

    ok thanks!

  • @TheKaelkinator also, practice reading Japanese print as much as you can. its ok if you don't know all the kanji (you can always look it up anyway). reading will get you used to the structure and certain patterns used in the writing. it will also help keep the characters more memorable, especially if you do it every day. if you're serious about it, i'm sure you'll catch on and find other helpful sources for you. plus, you can always take classes if self study is not your thing. good luck.

  • @TheKaelkinator im learning through self study at the moment. there is a youtuber named Aploosh who has uploaded the series called Yan San and the Japanese People. the series is easy to learn from, so it should help you get started (take notes!). it will eventually teach you writing, but i recommend buying some hiragana/katakana learning books. practice and know them well, then move to kanji characters. i found some good ones at barnes and noble :)

  • Thats actualy realy cool that they have something like that to keep them out out trouble lol XD

  • Anyone else noticed the irony between "4-day", old people and shi (4) meaning death?

  • Can someone help me? I want to learn Japanese but I don't know any good, free programs I can download.

PLEASE HELP! I want to live in Japan someday.
