I have a 1941 16mm soundie of Lawrence Welk in his 30's, the youngest I have ever seen him, performing with his traveling band long before the TV shows. I hope one day to upload this 16mm soundie to youtube.

A young Myron Floren, always smiled. Always made you feel good when he did.

Yes, 'tbear', Chrysler's Dodge division was the original sponsor when the "DODGE DANCING PARTY" premiered in the summer of 1955. It officially became "THE LAWRENCE WELK SHOW" when Pharmaceuticals, Inc. [Geritol, et. al] became the program's alternate sponsor in 1959; when Dodge was the evening's sponsor, it was billboarded as "THE LAWRENCE WELK DODGE SHOW". They ended their sponorship in 1961, with other sponsors filling in on alternate weeks (including Waste King appliances).

Well it true that Geritol was the sponsor for the Lion's share of all of the Lawrence Welk shows, but the only thing is that Dodge, which was the sponsor of the Lawrence Show before Geritol was, actually sponsored that show up to at least June of 1960 according to a Video posted in here titled: "IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME-Lawrence Welk and His" which was known as "The Lawrence Welk Dodge Show" was broadcasted on June 4th 1960 and had featured the '60 Dodge Dart promoted then.

Geritol and the other products {Sominex, Serutan, et. al.} of Pharmaceuticals, Inc. [later absorbed into The J.B. Williams Company, makers of Aqua-Velva, Lectric Shave, etc.] was Welk's long-time sponsor (beginning in 1959), and their logo appeared above the bandstand until the show went off ABC in 1971. They continued as his primary "barter sponsor" in syndication until the last show was taped in 1982.
Ah, this is the Welk Orchestra at it's finest era. With eight strings, full brass and SIX reeds..it's the Welk band that thrilled audiences for years at the Palladium. Keep 'em coming!
