5th July 2009 Christ Church tower visit 011

Bees nest behind one of the clock faces in the tower of Christ Church, Lubbock Road, Chislehurst. We visited on Sunday 5th July 2009. The room smells of honey, and three out of the four clock faces have bees nests behind them. The ending of the movive is a little shaky, as a bee flew up the sleeve of my tee-shirt... The tower isn't open to members of the public, so it took a lot of persuasion for my daughter Sophie and I to be allowed to climb the tower. It's the first time for years that anyone has been up there, and there are many cobwebs, dead bees and flowers on the spiral staircase to negotiate. Sophie was even allowed to ring the bell, although annoyingly, my camcorder didn't appear to record that...
