Tim's singing is real, but his piano playing is mimed. You can tell in two places: when he gets up to sing and the piano keeps playing (1:27), and at the end of the song, when the song plays the little bit of piano just before the final flourish, where his hands are poised on the keys but not playing (3:22).
The crowd knew it, too. In the original footage, the recording didn't play on cue, so they had to try again.
The crowd screaming? All real. Because Tim is awesome.
From Escapade , the best record Tim ever made.
