Backstage Crush Chapter 5 pt 1

Katie and her friends had a lot of trouble getting away from the crowd that surrounded the music store.
“Wow, those boys attract people wherever they go, don’t they?” Vanessa stated.
“Haha, yepp. So Katie, what were you and Kevin talking about??” Jenny asked her friend.
“OH MY GOD! Yess!! Tell us, what happened!!” Mackenzie pleaded.
“Okay, okay. Well, we were talking about how I’m a Jonas Brothers fan, and then I told him he was the most amazing guy in the world, which I wasn’t supposed to say. But then he told me that I looked cute when I was embarrassed, which I guess he wasn’t supposed to say out loud either. It was really funny. Then we exchanged numbers, and he said he wanted to see me again and he’d call me toni-” she was cut off by the vibration of her phone, signaling a phone call.
“Hold on guys.” Katie took the phone out of her pocket and looked at the caller id. “It’s Kevin!” She almost yelled.
Her friends looked at her, all with happy smiling faces. They liked to see their friend so excited about a boy, especially this boy. Because they knew that he would never do anything to hurt her, and like all good friends, that was the most important thing to them.
“Hello?” Katie said. A large smile appeared on her face as the boy on the other line responded. “Dinner...? Tonight...? With your family...? Where...?” She continued to smile and her eyes began to glisten like they always did when she was truly happy. “The View? Umm.. Hold on a sec Kev.” She turned to her friends, the smile almost gone from her face.
“Guys, what do I do? I really want to go with Kevin tonight, but I can’t afford The View. It’s like seventy bucks a person and I’m only in college! I don’t have that kind of money!”
“Awh, Katie. Just tell him the truth. Maybe you can do something with him after classes tomorrow.”
“Okay..” The distraught and almost heartbroken twenty year old put the phone back up to her ear. “Kev? Yeah hi. Listen. I really want to go with you tonight, but, you see. I’m only in college, and I can’t really afford to eat there. I’m so sorry.” She held her breath as she waited for the clearly disappointed Kevin to respond. “Kev..?? Oh okay. Well thanks for inviting me. I’ll call you after my classes tomorrow, maybe we can do something then? Thanks... you too... bye.” She shut her phone and turned to face her friends again.
“Guys I feel horrible. I think he really wanted me to go. I think I hurt him.” Katie said, all the gleam gone from her eye.
“Don’t worry Katie. I’m sure he understands.” Vanessa placed a comforting arm around her upset friend.
“I know. I just... well... I actually really want to go. I wish I could afford places like that. I think I really like him.”
“We know you do Katie, and that’s why you’re going tonight.” Jenny said, then nodded at Mackenzie and Vanessa.
“What are you talking about?” Katie looked from girl to girl, smiles appearing on all of their faces.
“Look, you alone can’t afford to eat there, but we can pool our money together and you can get all dressed up and go have dinner with Kevin and his family.” Jenny smiled.
“No way! You guys are not paying for me!”
“Yes we are. Look, we all know that if this was one of us, you would do the same thing. Katie, this is a chance of a lifetime! Your dream guy just asked you to dinner, you have to go. Now either call him back, or I’ll do it for you!” Mackenzie told her.
Katie laughed, “I have the best friends in the whole world!” She opened her phone again and dialed Kevin’s number. “Hey Kev? Yeah hi, it’s Katie. No, no, I’m fine. It’s about dinner tonight. I would love to join you and your family. Yeah well, let’s just say I have some of the greatest friends you’ll ever meet.” Katie smiled at her friends, that stood watching her talked to Kevin Jonas. The sparkle in her eyes returned, and all the way back to Katie’s dorm, a smile remained plastered to her face.
