Irishman? I know it was an old post, but have to respond. Steve Earle is as American as they come! You may not know who he is, but I would guess a lot more than 10% of the crowd did. He's from Texas (though born in Virginia while his dad was in army), lived in Nashville for many years, with time in LA and Mexico. Now lives in NYC. One of the innovators of alt-country, but formed by the red dirt country scene with Townes van Zandt and Guy Clark. Vacationed in Galway though.

He was actually born in Virginia, but has lived in TN. for about thirty years its a great state. Oh and we love Steve Earle.

LOL @ an irishman singing a song in front of a bunch of hillbillies in the middle of Tennessee 90% of whom have never heard him, much less been out of the U.S.A. But I feel bad, cause I was there, but I missed this somehow. Couldn't have anything to do with the alcohol...
