  • Susan Werner, you are the new Bob Dylan!!

  • At long last, a return to INTELLIGENT MUSIC and GUTS-INTEGRITY-and AMERICAN AS APPLE PIE!!!

  • I like the hook of the chorus, reminds me of 'My Old Addiction'--that line from Chet Baker's Unsung Swan Song by David Wilcox. All similarities are just in that cool cadence.

As Billy Bragg reminds us, love between two people must be based on understanding. To love the old US of A, you have to understand the dark and the light and embrace the need to change and grow. We are not always improving, but we have to keep trying.

Thanks, Susan. This song is needed.

  • A new kind of national anthem--honest! What a concept! An honest love song for one's country that shows the good with the not so good, patriotism with a challenge to do better, 'throw the despots off.' A national anthem without blinders on and without denial of the wrong turns from the past, yet undeniably American, always ready to bounce back. Just like Phil Ochs wrote in "Power and Glory" thirty years ago--what a powerful bookend to that song! A really, really brilliant song.

  • WOW, Susan, that's incredible! Thank You!
