Modesto H-D hosted its first sound competition for bikes. Over a dozen riders entered their rides in four classes. Sound modifications ranged from the mild, with J&M enhanced speaker systems, to the wild, with 4 amps and 10 speakers. Judging was done by two veteran sound system judges, who not only listened to sound quality, fidelity, and volume, but also examined for wiring, form, fitment, molding, and system reliability. Many of the entries were also customized with engraved metal, molded body panels, and custom paint, but the judges focused solely on the sound systems. In the end, the loudest did not always prevail.
