Andres Valbuena, production lifestyle manager at Volkswagen talks about its Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) that will come standard on all Volkswagen vehicles starting 2009.
@kranial007 and you are a pure race driver lol really! you have no sense of a real danger, that occures when a dangerous situation comes in a matter of 1 or 2 seconds,in the past i said that the esp is nothing to mention, but i had a bad experience when in front of me a horse suddenly came out of nearby woods and to avoid it my car slipped lost control and fall beneath a small bridge from 7 meters high! so i am lucky that i had no serious injuries, and plus the esp, saves you from bad slicky road.
ESP is only for driver without good pulse on the steering wheel, gas pedal, and brakes, steering on a curve can be controlled by not too tightening the turn on the steering wheel, and for how to recover from slide is to break turn from the last right turn into the left turn of the steering wheel. ESP is helpful for non-skilled drivers, especially on women and old drivers. See how ESP contradicts to the racer's skills in driving.
Does it help with understeer too? Looks in the first test like it does. I've put 18" wheels on mine with wider rubber and it like shudders when the front wheels loose grip, but I may have had ESP off I'll have to check this out.
no problem ;) I am very satisfied with the fact that ESP is standard by default in modern cars. You never know when a crash is about to happen. I had never used the full potential of ESP on my Jetta, and I'm glad of it. Its amazing looking back and see cars without seat belt... lol ESP is a major development in cars. drive safe man ;)
Bullshit yeah right. My 03 gti has this but I've had it with out it and it still the same. It's not the car but the driver.
