OAKLAND -- A man suspected of shooting at two police officers who tried to stop him on a West Oakland street was detained tonight after a massive search, police said.
The officers were near the intersection of Sycamore and West streets around 7:30 p.m., conducting a walking stop on the man and a woman standing with him, when the man drew a gun and opened fire on them for unknown reasons, said Officer Jeff Thomason, a police spokesman.
"There is no indication that the officers fired back," Thomason wrote in an e-mail.
Nobody was reported hurt in the shooting and the officers chased after the man, but he briefly evaded them. Officers detained him about 9 p.m. after they caught him walking out of a nearby building in a group of people.
Officials did not immediately know why the officers stopped the two people or what kind of gun was used.
The area remained locked down as investigators examined the scene of the shooting and chase Monday night.

some states have different wire tap laws, 12 states actually make it ilegal to video tape a public official in public without his consent, so maybe u should be more specific and mention that uploader

Self-defense is a right of all people. I don't play games. You are part of the great ignorant masses, who believe in the Hollywood bullshit of "shoot to wound," or knocking weapons out of hands. It's bullshit. If you are threatened with serious bodily injury or death, which broken glass can cause, you respond with deadly force.

Q: What do you think a person can do with a piece of glass?

A: Kill you.

Glass can function the same as a knife. If you don't believe it, you obviously haven't worked in law enforcement, where you know fellow officers who have been cut or otherwise seriously injured by all sorts of things. Brooms, cords, sticks, etc. All can be very dangerous. Self-defense is a right.
