@djfld They also mean you'll actually stop. If you have more braking force than you need, you can just push the pedal less, if you don't have enough... you're fucked.

HAd the car had a rebuild to get to this bhp? Can't see one that is run in acheiving that figure.??
-
@cgnw28517 bhp measured on the dyno...?:)

I love TVRs'. Pretty Blue car there. Nice deep rich blue. Nice car, nice sound. Wow!

But only brakes with a strong enough clamping force will lock the wheels up! As a general low down on non-ABS brakes;
On a dry road, lighter, non-ABS cars will use less distance to stop - the wheels may lock up around and below 5mph. However, in the wet, non ABS brakes would lock up, no matter what the clamping force of the brakes (unless something ridiculous) - this is where Servo-assisted brakes have the advantage.
-
it has nothing to do with a cars weight or clamping force at the brake. abs is used to prevent wheel lock-up, providing more control and a safer stop. every body knows abs brakes take more distance to stop on dry pavement, but are better on wet/icy roads than non-abs.

Hmm well what would you know buddy. I have a stunning ice metallic blue tuscan in my garage.
All theses cars were perfectly capable of meeting their quoted bhp figures. You may be thinking of the exaggerated bhp figures that TVR quoted for the Rover V8 engined models? The speed six engined cars did not need rebuilds to achieve the power but due to TVR altering the original engine design created by Al Melling the top end shims and valve train was prone to fail very early on in it's life. These days TVR power offer an unlimited mileage warranty on their rebuilds.

You presume correctly. Max power in third top speed run in 5th.

Just wondering - how old are you and just how much does that thing cost to insure?
