Paula had an amazing performance. She really put on a show. Janet today would win for sure and I love Janet...I mean LOVE Janet, but Paula had the best performance that night on the 1990 MTV Music Awards.

Singing goes to Janet, but the dancing goes to Paula. Janet gives a good performance, but she's no Michael. I can't help but compare her to her big bro, and she falls a little short. RIP Michael.

Janet Jackson is more talented all around. Paula could ONLY dance. Janet Dances, sings, acts, writes, and has a plethora of other talents. That's why she's one of the most successful artist of all times and Paula was just a dancer that had a handful of hits.

you can see that janet used the same moves of the foot move almost through the who song but she was LIVE and i would have to say the WIN goes to Paula Abdul. she kept all different dance steps not repeat every other time.

In this vid, Janet is as elegant as an ape would be - and I love animals! Let's say if a robot could learn how to dance, maybe Janet would be good... at teaching I mean. Terrible comparison for JJ: dancing will never be about stubborn hard-working only, but about grace and sharing.

@MrBEC187 actually, her short stint on FAME was the same year she released her album CONTROL, which we all know is the album Paula choreographed each video for Janet, just saying both DIVAS deserve respect and recognition. I also would like to point out to people that Paula fell into the singing part, that was not her dream, dancing was and she continues to be highly sought after for her talents. Janet was acting and singing and she is also highly successful at accomplishing her goals! <3 BOTH!

It would be nice if every single award show, commercials included, as they originally aired, was on YouTube. Seeing this video made me want to find this tape and watch the whole show again. Milli Vanilli presents the 1st award of the night to New Kids on the Block, who beat out Paula and Bobby Brown in the nominees. Then it goes to commercial, and the first commercial is Paula and Elton John advertising Coke. Late 80s, early 90s pop culture was the best. Sometimes I wish I was here b4 1991.

I completely agree with everything you said. But this is the 1990 American Music Awards, not MTV. My mother has so many tapes. I'm thankful to her for creating a video archive like this. This was the same night Milli Vanilli won 3 AMA's, Anita Baker hosted, Bobby Brown was at his best, MC Hammer, Lenny Kravitz, New Kids on the Block, Tone Loc, Warrant performed, Prince was there. Much more. This was a great show. They don't make em like this anymore.
