Please dont say 'that's it' all the time! It sounds so much like 'sit' and may confuse your dog. Keep all vocals distinct from one another. Of course I am assuming you use the command sit. Just my humble observation.

I have a german shepherd to and he loves to play and run like your dog.

"Go find it! Go find the ball!" I have to do that alot with my Blu. She looses interest and drops the ball after picking it up when she catches wiff of something. Then she'll head back to me with out it. I end up having to get the ball myself. I hate to use food rewards in training, but apparently its all that keeps he interested :/
