If I remember correctly they allowed the goal on the basis that the blade of the stick (where the stick made contact with the puck) was beneath the height of the crossbar when it hit the puck, although the butt end of the stick did appear to be higher than the crossbar.
Still a hell of a play, though.
I would kill for this final three-game series to be released in its entirety on DVD. It's too bad the only country likely to do it lost the series and probably wants to forget it entirely.
