The oldest roller coaster in the UK at Dreamland amusement park in Margate is also a Grade II listed building. The park is currently closed to the public and the Scenic was partially destroyed by fire as a result of an arson attack on 7 April 2008. A recent government grant to the Dreamland Trust and MTCRC will enable the Scenic Railway to be repaired and reopened along with Dreamland as the first amusement park of historic amusement park rides.
Here it is seen at Dreamland in 1996.
Also, there have been 2 amusement park ballrooms both within 2 hours of my home that have been destroyed by fire in the last 9 years. Both of the arsonists were caught, they were both teenagers. The two ballrooms were built one year apart from each other, in 1909 & 1910. The name of the one ballroom was Dreamland... :-(

The coaster's trains were one of a kind with the carved wooden dragon's heads, & now they're gone thanks to the cowardly act of an arsonist. They would have been 90 years old in 2010. People who commit such acts of crime to historical places such as this should be put away for life. I hope they find out who set this landmark on fire, they deserve to rot... I am very happy that there are people out there who care enough to rebuild this rollercoaster and bring it back to it's former glory soon!
