Robert Johnson was great, but he wasn't the original. He was hugely influenced by earlier blues such as Skip James and many others. Hell, even cream covered a Skip song before they even thought about RJ. Anyway...

The Wolf got down and dirty with innuendo instead of profanity. It's sexier to talk around it and allude to it than drop the F bomb. AND he ate more chicken than any man's ever seen.

I can only imagine people freaking out over the aggressiveness of this song when it came out, and parents telling their kids to never play this music ever again on their record player.
