Due to two Pendolinos crashing into each other at their Wembley depot (one of which suffered minor damage where-as the other was seriously damaged), Virgin are currently using this Class 82 DVT with 8 Mk3 carriages & a Class 90 locomotive set to cover the service. This train as seen in this video (filmed on 8th April 2009) would have left Birmingham New Street as the 1330 [1:30pm] service to London Euston calling at Birmingham International (at 1339 / 1:39pm), Coventry (at 1351 / 1:51pm), Milton Keynes Central (at 1418 / 2:18pm) and arriving into London Euston at 1454 [2:54pm] where it will form the 1543 service back to Birmingham New Street, again calling at the aforementioned stations but obviously in the reverse order.
In this video, we see this train passing southbound at speed through Cheddington. The Mk3 carriages are an interesting sight as the First Class section (plus buffet car) are carriages hired from Cargo-D however I am not sure about the Virgin livery carriages as they may be wholly owned by Virgin Trains or may also be hired in from Cargo-D.
For those interested, I have been reliably informed that the carriage numbers in this set are as follows;
FOs (First Class)
11064
11084
11086
RFM (Buffer Car)
10242
TSOs (Standard Class)
12017
12054
12059 (NOTE: It might be 11027 instead??)
12094
12124
If you would like the times for this set, please send me a message via YouTube and I'll happily provide them to you.
The use of this set is only temporary until they have completed repairs (and presumably tests) on the two damaged Class 390 Pendolinos involved in the depot crash, therefore if you are planning to 'bash' this then I would advise that you hurry up as it won't be around for all that long. I do believe that this set only runs on Weekdays (Monday to Fridays only) therefore it is SX (Saturdays eXcluded / Saturdays eXcepted) and also I believe doesn't run on Sundays either.
Cheddington station is owned & managed by London Midland and is on the West Coast Main Line, located between Tring and Leighton Buzzard stations.
