This is my favorite song by Iced Earth, and it's basically about how mankind is on a constant downward slope to self-destruction. So I added some random pictures to the little instrumental interlude so you wouldn't have to stare at me for an entire minute of doing nothing...It looks cheesy, but I don't care.

I'm no Matt Barlow, but I've been working my way up to being able to do this song for over over a year and a half now, and I wanted to try my hand at some Power Metal. The range is still a bit high for me in some spots, even when I lowered the pitch of the song, but I did my best. And those high screechy notes are hard. ..ffffuuu-.

But I hope this makes a nice tribute to Mr Barlow, who is no longer in Iced Earth, and has been replaced by Stu Block from Into Eternity; but can never actually BE replaced. I hope you continue your career in music somewhere, Mr Barlow.

Stay tuned after the song to hear how I recorded the chorus!

That is all.

Metal.

  • First of all - incredible job on the song. One of my favorite tunes by IE, and Matt's voice sure shines, especially on that high part ... the note he hits there is pretty incredible.

I have a question ... you said in the description that you lowered the pitch of the song - how much did you lower it?

  • Fake. Period. Send.

  • First off I want to say I love your voice. Now I am covering this song with my band and I am having trouble with the last part (The high pitched part) do you have any tips?

  • Really nice job!

  • Great Job ! ...outstanding tribute !... I also like how Matt hits the highs at the end of Sacrificial Kingdoms ....

  • Your Moms got sweet furniture.

  • wow, you sound freakin awesome, you should definitely do some more and maybe find a band id buy your stuff hands down

  • Isn't it incredibly hard to hit the right notes when you sound totally different to yourself as a singer compared to what you actually sound like?

  • God Damn! \m/

  • Man you are excellent. I hope you be very very famous soon :D
