  • sam and kirk are my husbands great uncles there niece is my mother inlaw and am very proud of the family and yes sam was the comic of the group

  • @srshank I got to play a Grammer guitar back in the 70's...great neck action.

They are bringing really good prices if you can find a good one.

  • The name of this song they're playing is the "Victory Rag", which was originally introduced by Maybelle Carter...

  • Tamar6666, Sam McGee always looked like he was up to something and Kirk McGee always looked like he wanted to make sure his brother didn't do anything too cute! They were great. And I think the Wilburns probably had a deal with Billy Grammer--Doyle Wilburn was a terrific operator in addition to entertaining.

  • I noticed everyone on the Wilburn Brothers show used a Grammer Guitar on screen... were Grammer Guitars maybe a sponsor of The Wilburn Brothers Show during their original run?

  • Hahahaha!!! XD cries* whoever put this up yer the best!! Sam and kirk are my uncles and like them i want to play on the opry. Ive been playing the fiddle since i could hold it and recently got a banjo. If u have more please add them to. Oh and uncle sam i think was wild. He was a real goofball from what mom and granda say. XD u should here some of his goofy songs.

  • Sam is playing a Grammer guitar - made by Billy Grammer (a country singer of some fame himself) in Nashville in the 60's. He made these rather wild guitars for Porter Wagoner and a bunch of others, too. Google it - there are several sites about 'em and they might even be still made in some fashion today.

  • Sam McGee in particular will stand as one of the all time great flatpickers in my opinion. Be sure to check out his recordings.

Anyone know who made the dreadnought guitars the brothers are playing? Neither are the Martin or Gibson boxes that you`d expect pickers from this time to be playing. Sam`s especially is pretty wild looking!
