'It's Mersey' may refer to the fact that (back in the British Invasion), those bands referred to where they came from (or were big fan hits) as the sound from that area. For instance, Gerry and the Pacemakers came from the area known as Mersey, so their sound became the Mersey Sound. (This song sound very similar to Ferry across the Mersey, quiet guitar strumming). The DC5 were very popular in Tottenham and their pounding driving songs became known as the Tottenham sound.
