  • Thanks so much for posting this. Its been many many years since I last played it but remember that I kept getting a error during the game and was never able to finish it.

  • @FrailShiver you are very welcome. I tried to do a playthrough on my modern pc; but it would not let me go passed Minos. The game is unfortunately loaded with bugs

  • @IronBobcat2278 The crash at Minos is a QuickTime error. Try installing QFG5 with the new installer from SierraHelp dont com. It'll install and fully patch the game for you, and copy the correct version of QuickTime into the game folder (without affecting the latest version on your PC). The only error I encountered playing this on Windows 7 was when fighting the dragon at the end, got around by turning down soundFX and pausing when he'd shoot fire

  • @tokyomons Thank you, now maybe I can do that playthrough. This is one of only 4 sierra games I have left one of which; being space quest on disk (not disc) lol These old adventure games actually helped me to teach myself to read and spell. Learning is fun when you think of it as a game.

  • Props to navigating through the bugs and posting the ending, I thought I would never see it.

  • @Zoooqie You are most welcome. I had almost an entire playthrough ready to be uploaded and part of it was. I was the magician and I was going to do the Katrina ending-but the bugs were unforgiving. I got right up to where Minos fell and it froze, even with the patch. I also have, almost a complete PT of The Shield, which I will finish when I move. We're all packed right now though.

  • @DBoy2029 Its easy called DosBox. download it. It's a Dos Emulator its FREE.

  • ... and the eruption destroyed Silmaria. The end

  • @tokyomons Thanks for the info. Got a link to the Sierra Help website that does this? I think I'll hunt for my QfG Anthology and QG5 CDs soon... and now that those guys handle the patches, I need no longer fear the dreaded Error 52 in QG4! X3

  • @DBoy2029 Yeah. I just played through all 5 games last week on my Windows 7 laptop. I used DOSBox with the first four games. If you use the new installers on the Sierra Help website, they will install the games, and DOSBox (fully configured) and all the patches automatically. All you need to do is put in the CD and run the new install file from the website.

  • @tokyomons So, QG5 (and the previous four) should still work (I have Windows 7, so you know), just need DosBox and the patches.

  • @DBoy2029 The creators of Quest For Glory - Lori and Corey Cole - have said they think the reason the games haven't been re-released is because they would still be owed royalties for them, and the company isn't prepared to pay out. If they were re-released, I doubt they'd go to the expense of patching the bugs. All the other re-releases are exactly the same, just with DOSBox thrown in to make them a bit more stable (which you can download for free anyway).
