What a well-written, appropriate and touching comment. For sure, heaven is a better place with John's presence.
Simply put, John Stewart improved my life for over 40 years.

@deboerdolf Oh, yeah.... loved that version! Especially when he channeled Elvis near the end of the song... John always said he wanted to be Elvis, but he was better! He was/is the soundtrack of my life. RIP Johnny!

About a year ago we could watch on YouTube John's great performance of 'You Can't Go Back To Kansas'. It has disappeared. Where the hell did it go?
-

Goosebumps, Paul. Thank you. We drove through the Blue Ridge on the way home today, John singing to us. Tears and laughter at the same time. How I miss him!

This was almost too heart-rending to watch. I discovered John in college at Ohio University, just guitar and himself, and was floored. California Bloodlines is on my "10 Albums I cannot live without." I heard him many times in Northern California. This his best: just John, guitar, the blackness around him, no production at all. His voice is fading, and yet his heart is undeniable. An American treasure. He's singing his own eulogy: we will remember you, my friend.
I surely remember you, John, and I always will. But I remember too that the titel above ain't the right one. This song is called Missouri Birds and it 'shines like a diamond'.
