born and grew up in Handsworth [64-86] mom still lives there! proud of my roots and the people !

Grew up (69-81) amongst all of this. Handsworth was seen as a dumping ground for the people no-one else wanted. For me, it was my childhood. Didn't notice colour until I moved to a white area at 12. And that's when I discovered racsion and started to understand the things people said. PS I'm white.

At 1:43 was that Stafford Road? If it was and it very much looks it, i used to live there, grew up there! This brings back tons of sad memories :(

stayed in Handsowrth for a couple of months in mid 80s and tell you what its a grand place with a lot of good people that dont deserve its iffy reputation

Check out 243 the man pushin back the police is a man called Dave Butcher. When u see him about show him the maximum respect. He did alot for us black people back in the day. He alone stood up to NF right wing police for their miss use of the "suss law",which aloud the police to stop and search anyone on the street they felt could commit a criminal act..... Guess what, he won too! NICE ONE DAVE!!
