BLACK PANTHERS film "OFF THE PIG" (1968)

Excerpt from OFF THE PIG created by the SAN FRANCISCO branch of THE NEWSREEL film collective in collaboration with the Black Panthers. Some 800 prints of this film are said to have been made: used for recruting purposes, by universities, and by various activist groups. This excerpt focuses on Huey Newton during his incarceration at the Alameda County jail.

It's sad that while we cellabrate the works and accomplishments of those who came before us, we are at the same time, as misguided as the uneducated people that our strong leaders were takeing up arms to protect and uplift. WE over populate the prison system, the mourges, and the very dirt from whince we came and when it comes to hate and judgement we are the best at it. We need to be better at something else, and that something else is love of self...

I think that any person in the shoes of a black person in the 60's would have no choice but to join or support the Black Panthers.
