  • Over 70% of the country is christian. Obama constantly speaks about god. And politicians and the media constantly bash or ignore the views of non believers. Yes I do not believe in god, and yes that is my right. And it is your right to believe whatever you want. But it is not your right to used the government to promote your personal views, or to force them on others. Prey all you want , but do not have the government ask me to prey to your god. Persecution is not when you do not get everything!

  • @fsx23 Thanks for your comment, but I think you missed my point. Take the case from this week, for instance, where the Obama administration is requiring Catholic organizations to provide abortions as part of their health packages despite the fact that it's their belief! Since when did the government have the right to force people to do something? What happened to free will? What happened to the free market being allowed to make the choices it wants to?

  • They are not requiring them to provide abortions they are requiring that the healthcare packages they provide cover contraceptives. You may see that as abortion I do not, so we may have to agree to disagree on that point. Basically the religious organizations have to follow the same rules as another organization religious or not.that receives tax dollars for the services they provide. Everyone plays by the same rules. If they do not want to, they should not take tax payer money.

  • @fsx23 This mandate is specific to the Catholic church and religious organizations. And to claim that everyone plays by the same rules is ludicrous. There are loop holes and escape clauses in about every law. Plus, "everyone plays by the same rules" (having guidelines) is different from forcing people to do something. There is a big difference between group health insurance vs the actual insurance companies.

  • lol your pre-judging me calling me an atheist? im an agnostic thank you. and any teacher who stereo types southerners should be fired. but your are the one claiming every to be a christian in this nation when facts are they aren't so you are the one saying others can't express their opinions by saying obama is raging a war on christianity because you don't want athiests/agnostics/gays/muslim­s/buddhists and any other religion other then those who think jesus christ is their savior!

    which christians want to stop promoting science in schools by removing evolution..even though the founding fathers believed science was important to this country, anything that would conflict with your religion even if its facts you don't want to hear, you want your way.

  • Do I really have to educate you, that the USA IS NOT a christian country. The freaking Vatican is a cristian country. If you were a cristian state you'd live in a theocracy. And do you know who's a theocracy: THE IRAN!!!

  • @stateofdaniel No, not true churches and houses of worship are exempt. This applies to places like hospitals who employ people who are not church members.(doctors for example)

  • Here's the bottom line. Christianity has brought it upon itself to ostracize most scientific theories, as well as the equality of certain demographics (women and non-heterosexuals). This breeds conflict. You created this conflict. Other religions create conflict in a similar manner. If you're not prepared to pay an extra 15 cents for a Christmas tree because of these conflicts that you created, you're going to look like an idiot. End of story.
