Elvis goes country on an HBO program in 1981. A few things to note:

1) The band consists of regular Attractions Pete Thomas and Steve Nieve, with Nick Lowe on bass and John Hiatt on guitar.

2) Elvis has the mumps or something.

3) That's a mighty nice Ferrington guitar he's playing.

4) George Jones showed up!

Costello had the mumps for this performance. At 1:02 Jones is pantomiming looking for his house keys in reference to the lyrics sung by Costello. What are you doing?

  • Great singing for two recovering drug attics. Elvis swollon from doing drugs as he said he hasnt been well in the she got you song. George with his left hand cocane twich at 1:02. Still great to see them up and singing.

  • Thanks man, from this video im guessing G C and D and a key change to A D and E, maybe elvis got his guitar tuned up a semitone, i'll try the capo on the first fret, thanks again !

  • In the book it's in Ab.

If you're not keen to play all barre chords you could bluff you're way through with the chords A, D and E in first position.

  • When George is drunk as can be he's passed out, which he is for about 1 out of every 3 scheduled shows. This is about a 2 on a 1 to 10 scale of how drunk George performs. And still, the best male county voice ever.

  • Is their any musician out there that knows the chords ? would mean the world to me !

  • I think Elvis C. and George should do an album with Elvis singing backup to George. He does such a good job of singing harmony with George!
