@ ttcarlisle: Electric Eden was what brought me here! It's making me look up all kind of stuff. I was only 9 when this came out, so wasn't really in the hippie folkie loop; I grew up hearing Scots Irish & English folk via my parents (who were half a generation too old to be hippies...) and then there was a big moment of cross-generational bonding a couple of years later when me folks overheard Gaudete while I was watching TOTP....
Beautiful and chilling song. It raises the hairs on the back of my neck and paints such a vivid picture of the landscape. For a lengthy and very amusing account of the history of Mr Fox, read Electric Eden by Rob Young - a detailed review of the folk tradition in Britain. Excellent read!
We all have a musical tapestry within our lives that includes a variety of musical genres ( well at 55, my age, it certainly should do) and for over 35 years Mr Fox has sat incredibley high on my list of favourite music. It's folk based and this is a great example of their work. Leaving the Dales & especially The Gypsy are tracks that need to be heard by a wider audience as they are phenomenol.
come on video please.
