  • hey so is this 8.oL engine the viper engine? Im not too sure?

  • @Montel750 I know its the Magnum 8.0 v10. Idk if its the same motor used in the Viper.

  • @belizetj no, it wasn't the viper engine, but they eventually race tuned it and modified it to be used in the viper, and it was. so the answer is no, not originally, but it WAS used in the viper after.

  • @Mrstonester Ok. So whats the difference between the Si and the CSX Type-S?

  • oh yeh cause chrome makes you go sooo much faster you idiot

  • @thebeegfoot Interestingly, the Viper application came before the truck version, 1992 debut vs 1994. If you want to go WAY back, they both derive from the original LA-block engine originally intended for the Valiant. Versions of the LA such as the 340 found their way into Challengers and such. So while they were truck motors by the '90s, they started as car motors competing directly with the small-block Chev. Corvettes, as we know, are just as guilty by using hot Suburban motors.

  • @thebeegfoot yeah and if you ain't a mopar fanboy you could also admit that with the ford GT being a direct drop in motor from a lightning just saying.

  • @Montel750 Well sort of... This V10 was what the vipers engine was made off of, as beliztj had said, its basically the origin of the vipers motor. Thats why if you ever hear covette douche bags saying "oh thats just a car with an old truck motor in it blah blah blah..." yes, you COULD say it is a truck motor but in reality that just proves how good the engineers at Chrysler actually are. They took an old 10 cyl. work truck engine and turned it into the monster we all call a viper. Mopar for life

  • there goes 14 gallons of gas.

  • 8.0 V-10 in a truck 94-02 was a cast iron block,lower h.p than the Aluminum version in the Viper !!

    Only could get the 8.0 V-10 in a 1994-2002 Dodge 2500 or 3500 truck !!

The 8.3 L 505 c.i 2004-2006 Dodge Ram SRT trucks used the same engine as in the Viper,505 hp 525 torque ect..Aluminum engine...

Both are based off the old 318/360 engines that Chrysler used since the late 1960's !!

  • @Montel750 The easiest way to teel what v10 the truck has is by the truck itself. The older style like this one has the 8.0l v10, and the newer style has the 8.3l v10.

  • @Montel750 it was originally the ram engine, but when chrystler owned lamborghini, dodge sent the truck engine to italy to be tuned and lightened so it could have the power but not the weight.

  • @dk552 Actually, the first-gen Viper motor was an 8.0, and it was developed from this truck motor. Chrysler sent it over to Lambo (who they owned at the time), and they put on new heads, higher-compression pistons and changed the whole thing over to aluminum with forged internals. The newer 8.3 and 8.4 (there was no 8.6) are more different, but the fact the Viper uses a V10 at all, rather than a V8, owes its existence to the Magnum V10, even though the Viper wound up coming out first.

  • @Montel750 Viper uses an 8.6 liter... they're totally different designed engines, this one is ment solely for work. :)

  • Ford V10 CP is something like 9.6.1 Dodge is 8.6.1 ... thats why Hp is less
