The history of Spain is fascinating. Wish I knew more about it.

This is one my all time favorite movies. As a boy I saw it on the big screen when it first came out.
It has everything. A fantastic story, great sets and scenery, wonderful costumes, beautiful music, very realistic and innovative fight choreography, Charlton Heston at his virile best and one of the most beautiful women who ever lived, Sophia Loren. (She's not eye candy, she's an eye candy store!! . . . and she can act!)

And Akira Kurosawa was influenced by John Ford, so you fail again.

I know perfectly well this is Middle Age Spain, for God sake! My point is that the dialogue before the fight is more reminiscent of a Samurai movie rather than your token medieval flick of the 60's.

One-handed sword fighting like in this scene is a brutal endurance test I bet they needed hour breaks between each cut :)
Then again heston is a legend he maybe didn;t need a rest hehehe
I have done some medieval sword fighting, I am 190 lbs and can maintain a running speed of 16 km an hour for 45 minutes and bench press twice my bodyweight, but within about 90 seconds of sword-fighting I was covered in sweat and my wrist felt like it was going to break any minute lol
Samurai swordfight you say? Take my advice and learn some history. This is in Spain not in Japan.
