Korea's a little different about showing affection and personal space than where I'm from... What do you think about it?

  • Here girls can hug other girls and stuff like that, while we assume that guys that do the same are gay. So I like that kind of "equality" which they have in Korea.

  • I have to say, my favorite videos from you, Mike, are the vlogs filmed during walks on the street, or through the subway. Your anecdotes and stories are great and they are quite intimate.

  • Canada is very similar to the USA when it comes to personal space. As a Latino, I initially interpreted this as insecurity, same goes for the over-politeness, IMO, it only gets in the way of being yourself, it goes more harm than good... it creates walls between people. Love your videos Durke...

  • For older kids, definitely in public schools, we can't show any physical affection. There may be an exception for Female teachers on occasions such as a birthday hug or like if a child was hurt and needed a hug, that's acceptable. Obviously, you know!

  • As for teachers hugging and kissing students in America, you're damn right, we'd be all over the news! hah We definitely can't do that. I mean, it is a bit different if you're a childcare provider working as an EEC educator (which I used to)..it's often normal to show our kids affection by giving them hugs and kisses on the cheeks! I used to be a provider for infants-Kindergaren.

  • The whole being comfortable with one another, same sex, but not being homosexual is very common in most Asian countries. It's like that in Vietnam, Cambodia, China etc. too! I'm from the US though, but I have relatives in those countries and that's exactly how they are. To us, it's weird, strange because we're not used to it. In our country, if people do that, they're either gay or lesbian.. But, for them, it's normal! That's just one of the differences between other countries and America! (:

  • you'll know you've acclimated when you start cuddling with your buddies in the sauna. let us know. haha.

  • i love watching your vlogs

  • When I taught English in Georgia (country, not state), it was very common to see guys hugging and walking holding arms, kissing on cheeks, etc. all the time. Sometimes they hold the hug for a couple minutes. Kids and teachers kiss on the cheek. It is normal there. Watch out for drunk Georgian men. They will wet your face down with sloppy kisses. Perfectly normal.

  • Wow...I live in Canada and I do that sort of things with my friends all the time...

  • It is nothing but healthy!
