Here's a short video of three bridges I built for my 6th grade science fair project. A beam bridge, truss bridge and an arch bridge. I used 5.5" wooden coffee stirrers and Elmer's wood glue to build them. Then made a contraption to hold a bucket of water and added water in 8oz portions until it broke. The beam bridge held 6.3lbs, the truss held 31.89 lbs, and the arch held 37.8 lbs. It was a lot work but a lot of fun.

  • how do you know how much the bridge held, cuz it looks like your just adding stuff to a bucket

    I measured how much a measuring cup weighed when you added water to it and then counted it out each time I added the water. That's how.
