1990 convention in St. Louis. See 2-6-6-4 N&W 1218 on inbound trip, Cotton Belt 4-8-4 number 819 on inbound trip, plus Union Pacific 844, and Frisco 1522 on excursions. 4 engine lineup at St. Louis Union Station. Interesting run after the convention with 844 leading 1522 to the Museum at Kirkwood. Shot with two camera coverage, and lots of great steam action.

  • With all these "Heritage Units", you would think the UP would allow steam locomotives from other railroads to run on it's lines, most especially the one's that UP abosorbed. Like The 4449, and the 819 (if she was operable). In my opinion, and everyone has their's, the 819 is a much more attractive locomotive than the 844, though she is a very beautiful engine as well. Just think of all those locomotives barred from home rails.

  • all of the steams except #844 got museum-ed #844 is still running around on the rails.

  • @atsf7809 i agree, 1522 was doing just as much work as UP 844

  • @wildguy you are clearly biased! 1522 is doing her share of the work. 1522 has a greater starting tractive force than 844 due largely in part to her shorter drivers and wider boiler. 1522 was designed for hauling fast heavy passenger trains with cars weighing 80 tons a peice and was the most powerful non-articulated engine when she was built in 1923. 1522 FOREVER!

  • @pianomanmaestro They are both currently retired.

  • what happened to the Frisco and the North Folk and Western??????

  • @45x45bw 1990

  • She's an H.K. Porter 2-4-2 located in Jackson, Missouri on the St. Louis Iron Mountain & Southern Railway. The engine has been out of service for about 12 years now and sits dismantled in the Jackson yard. Some work has been done on a rebuild, but any progress is slow. The meet in the video took place at Delta, Missouri.

  • what about that steam locomotive number 5?

  • In that last scene, thanks to the loud "bark" 1522 sounds like it's doing all the work, when in reality, 844 is probably doing all the work.

  • Funny, only 844 is currently operating, and restoration of 819

  • when is this held?

  • man this looks incredible 819 1522 844 1218 this is one video i am getting very soon
