Before I take these beautiful guns to the range, I decided to put up just a quick video looking at the 2 best Mausers you'll ever find on the C&R market: The German k98 Karbiner and the Yugo M24/47. Both of these come from J&G Sales, and both speak volumes about the quality of firearms you can get from J&G Sales.

For the k98, I paid a $30 barrel select fee because by the time I had the funds for both guns, most of the better mfg. code choices were already sold out...so paying the $10 hand select fee would have been a waste of time, and I'm very thankful for J&G Sales for being honest and telling me to not waste my $10 before placing my order.

One thing for sure is that I now know that this is a Code 243 made at tne Mauser Werke A.G. factory in Berlin-Borsigwalde. The top of the barrel receiver stamping is ground down and only the 43 shows...but if you compare the date and the 3 Waffenamt marks on the right side of the receiver (all Code 26 Waffenamts), and then compare the date to an online look-up resource I found, it's hard to see this being anything other than one of those Borisgwalde Mausers. Don't think it's particularly unique, but it's nice to know for sure where the gun was made!

For the M24/47, I just paid a mere $10 hand select fee to get a cleaner gun. Well, it was a cleaner gun once I got all the cosmo. out, but at first, it was filthy as hell. But you can easily see that a little clean up and it has a lot of potential.

I already like the M24/47 better, because the action is a hell of alot more smoother to work. It's a little heavier, but that' okay by me.

Anyway, enjoy the side-by-side comparison. I can't praise J&G Sales enough, their reputation is very well-earned!

  • nice rifles. i was looking at an m24 earlier today, might pick it up. any suggestions as to what i should look for?

  • @zzohmzz Check the barrel and action for cosmoline...if there is none, then you know it's been fired a bit. And if the barrel doesn't look mirror bright or immaculate MOVE ON and get a different one. As you can see in my later vids., the M24/47 cleans up really good...if you pay more than $220.00 though, it better be mint condition, because they just aren't worth much more than that.

  • My aren't we all a bit touchy about making fun of the nazis...you probably don't even know movie that comes from. Nor do know the inside joke on why I did that...whatever.

  • @20thcenturyfilmdocs thanks, i will do that.

  • @20thcenturyfilmdocs You can make fun of the Nazi's all you want but what I mean is that's the German national anthem which is still in use to day, so technically it's making fun of Germans. I'm part German so it's only natural that I don't like it. Not trying to be an arse, it's just my opinion.

  • What's with the piss take on the German national anthem at the beginning, it's unecessary and a bit stupid.

  • @MrPugero69 Mitchell's amusers are crap as far as genuine K98s go. They look nice but are fraudulent and have no collector value. They are restamped by mitchells to have "all matching numbers". They are a good representation of what a new mauser would look like (except for the bolt which should be blued and not in the white). They are good shooters but are not historically correct.

  • @MrPugero69 OR, you can go to J&G Sales, Southern Ohio Gun, or Rguns and build your own K98! For easily $100 less...

  • @20thcenturyfilmdocs go to mauser.net and they sell a wide variety of mausers and you could probably pick up a 98k for $400 plus the fees
