The significance of cycling can best be understood in the context of livable cities. Cycling contributes to the cost-efficiency of our traffic system and to our health and well-being. Complete streets do more than facilitating cycling and walking, they arrange accessibility for all and quality of life. Segregation of cycling facilities should be implemented as a consequence thereof. The return on investments for cycling facilities is high while the calculations only reflect a part of the value of cycling. Cycling should not be a standalone policy; we need cycling inclusive policies.
