"Here and There" is a video by guest filmmakers Yu Miao and Robert Schaller. Everyone who lives in China is familiar with its DIY recycling system, powered by migrant workers. "Here and There" tells the stories of three recyclers in Boulder, Colorado, who immigrated to the United States. It won the best film of the "First Person" category at the International Documentary Challenge in March, 2007.

  • the background music makes me homesick

  • One again Asian work ethic proves superior to Mexican work ethic. The Asians come here not knowing any English and yet are able to learn it in a few years, yet the Mexican guy has been here since 1969 and STILL can't pass the English exam! And Spanish to English is much easier than Lao to English

And is it any surprise that the Mexican is the only one complaining about working, and how much better life in Mexico is? And lastly, we all know why he didn't want to talk too much on camera. Illegal!

  • well when i was little my parents moved us from our home in south africa to the UK... one day, im coming home...one day...

  • Wow! Movies like this always make me appreciate being born in N. America!

Immigrants who come here have more appreciation and desire to live out their dreams than most natives seem to.

Thanks for constantly revitalizing the blood of the USA!

    :-)

  • i agree with you.. 拼音 sucks!!

  • wow, as i was watching the clip, i started asking myself why did i come to america 9 yrs ago, why did my parents come to the States in the late 80s. Cuz leaving ur relatives, friends and the environment u grew up in and come to a new country to start a new life, it is not easy as it sounds.

I guess the reason is we want to have a better future, we want to live a better life. Even though accomplishing those goals means we have to sacrifice, so we can accomplish the so called american dream.
