Native Tethering on iPhone OS 3.1.2, AT&T

WHATS UP!! In this video, I am going to be demonstrating EXACTLY how to tether on an iPhone, without any extra applications or fees. Please note that with your unlimited data plan you are required to purchase with the iPhone, there will be no extra data charges as well.

NOTE: You MUST be jailbroken to do this!

Download OpenSSH and Link Identity Editor from Rock/Cydia/etc..

CODE FOR TERMINAL:

cd /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/support:
/system/library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support root# mv ./CommCenter ./CommCenter.orig:
/system/library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support root# cp ./CommCenter.orig ./CommCenter

Highlite it and copy it and then paste it into terminal :D After that you go to this address on your iPhone:

m.peacefulinsanity.com/tether.mobileconfig

You should be finished! Reboot your phone, and go to General, Network, and then there should be an option called Internet Tethering. Click it, and flip the little switch to turn it on! When you first plug it into your computer, make sure that computer has iTunes, and then your computer will connect to it automatically!

I am using an iPhone 3GS in this video, and any iTunes version should be fine, as long as it close to the newest version.

i'm not that expert in tethering thing, so i wanna asksome questions. does it only works in the us? and by sayin havin internet on ur iphone, do u mean u can turn ur iphone into wifi and u can do all what u can do on regular wifi? thenx

@my1past1is1ur1future Ok, what I mean by internet on your iPhone is that you need to have an iPhone connected to a cellular service that can use the Internet. Once you know this, follow the video, and when you plug your iohone into your computer and turn tethering on in settings, your computer will get your iPhones Internet. However, if you would like to create wifi, I suggest MyWi,which you can download from rock or cydia

Rockinsage, do you mean like disable MMS on a phone that can already use

it? If so, then nope. All this does is enable tethering on your phone, it doesn't touch anything else as far as I know :)

@MacOSXTutorials123 Thanks. Yeah I think most of the old problems with tethering hacks disabling MMS were before MMS was officially activated by ATT. Have seen other people with VVM problems after tethering hacks too.
