An amusing example of computer jargon from 20 years ago can be heard in this scene from the classic documentary AMERICAN TONGUES by Louis Alvarez and Andrew Kolker.
Old computers had loose heads on the hardrives and if you moved them while they where running then data would erase. he something like 128kb hard drive. thats like 6 picture files lol
wow I didn't understand the computerese and I work as an engineer for a cable/software company all day every day. Maybe it's cause I was born in 1984 or something.

same here! only biomed engineer from 1983.
i'm not sure why all that info is necessary to turn off a computer!
