Thanks for sharing--- I was onboard Dover Harbor, which is how I know about the late departure from Washington!

South of Richmond I presume? There was quite a few people out at Ashland on the 8th.

Thanks. The color was pretty nice in Ashland when I returned on the 8th; but therein lies a whole 'nother set of clips. :)

Hey, 8:17 not bad at Ashland considering a forty-five minute late departure from Washington! BTW, Dover Harbor, though assigned to Pennsylvania RR when originally built as the Maple Shade in 1923, is a Pullman car, and bears such on the letter board. Once rebuilt as Dover Harbor in 1934, it was assigned to Pullman service on the New York Central System. Owned by the Washington DC Chap. NRHS, it frequently operates on Amtrak regional trains #67 & 66 to Newport News in the spring and fall.

Good info, thanks. Interesting that it was assigned to the Pennsy and then the NYC after rebuilding. I got a closer look at Dover Harbor late last year when I caught it on the tail end of a Regional making a stop in Ashland. As my rotten luck would have it it was right as I was stepping out of my car, or I might have actually had it on tape.

I think it was 80 where I caught the J. Pinckney Henderson and Caritas on my first visit to Ashland. I've also seen a few Regionals with surprises on the end. :)
